Helgi Silm
Helgi Silm is a highly experienced dermatologist and venereologist. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu, where she also completed her postgraduate studies. In 1991, she became the Head of the Dermatology Clinic at the University of Tartu and was appointed Full Professor. Since 2015, Professor Silm has also been working at Elite Clinic.
She specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of all skin diseases and sexually transmitted infections.
Professor Silm is a member of several professional organizations, including:
- Estonian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (former president and board member),
- Estonian Society for Sexually Transmitted Infections,
- European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology,
- Vice President of the Baltic Association of Dermatovenerologists,
- Eastern European Association of Dermatovenerologists,
- European Dermatology Forum,
- UEMS Section of Dermatology.
In recognition of her contributions, Professor Silm has received several honors, including the Order of the Red Cross, Class II (2008), the University of Tartu Grand Medal (2010), and the “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” award (2020).
Her contribution to Estonian medical science is significant, with over 130 published scientific articles.
Professor Silm is fluent in Estonian, Russian, and English.
