Külli Kingo
Professor Külli Kingo graduated cum laude from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu in 1996, specializing in general medicine, and completed her residency in dermatovenereology in 2001.
She is a Professor of Dermatology and Venereology at the University of Tartu. In 2005, she defended her doctoral thesis on “The interleukin-10 family cytokines gene polymorphisms in plaque psoriasis”.
Since 2012, Külli Kingo has served as Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Medicine, and in 2024, she was appointed Dean.
In 2016, she was awarded the National Science Prize in Medicine, alongside Professor Sulev Kõks, for their research and development work on “The pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory skin diseases.”
That same year, Külli Kingo was named Estonia’s Woman Scientist of the Year. She has published over 100 scientific articles and is a member of the University of Tartu Senate. She also serves on the boards of several European professional societies.
Professor Kingo is known for her cheerful personality and open, friendly communication style. She is fluent in Russian and English.
